Shopping - Day 2
We all woke up very early yesterday. Not that surprising really. I think I managed to hang on until about 9.30pm on Sunday night which was around 1.30am in body-clock time with a 7am start. It doesn't seem to matter what time I go to sleep I always sleep solidly for around six hours and then wake up. So I woke up around 3am and then was in and out of sleep until shortly before 7am. It had snowed overnight. Another cm had fallen so everything was lovely and white. We had no umph so planned a lazy day of getting the various essential items. So after a breakfast of various cereals and toast (we thought we'd try not to start with bacon, eggs and maple syrup on day 1) over several hours we hopped in the car and drove to the local Mall in Milton. We decided, not sure why, that we needed somewhere bigger and headed off (having memorised a map from a bookshop) to Erin Mills which we found pretty easily despite not knowing where it really was. The part of Ontario it is in seems to be just one mass of eating and retail opportunity. So first we eat. In a food hall with loads of outlets. So 2 subways, some calzone, some pasta and a burger later we started shopping. Spent ages in Zellers looking for various warm and dry clothes for snow play and were generally successful. By the end we were all feeling a bit tired.
We decided to head back home via a large supermarket so we could stock up on things like toothbrushes, cereal, fruit, oreos, and 25c advent calendars for the kids. The drive home was easy, once you get used to the fact you can turn right at red lights and the fact that there are zero roundabouts it is all pretty relaxed. Once home we were all feeling the effects of the long previous day and early morning so takeout was needed. We made the easy choice to get Swiss Chalet. Rather fantastically you can order from the entire menu online and have it delivered to your door. It's chicken, chicken, and more chicken, all served with the special sauce which tasted just the same as I remembered from when we were last here in 1998. A hole nicely filled so to speak. So a good day of relaxing, eating, shopping, eating and relaxing. Just how a holiday should be.
